CANDIDATES standing in an upcoming by-election for the former council leader’s seat have been revealed.

At least four people from different political parties will be vying for votes in the Radcliffe West ward.

The vote to replace former Radcliffe West representative Rishi Shori takes place at the end of the month.

Jamie Walker, who lost his seat in Radcliffe North in May, has been selected as the Labour candidate.

He will be hoping to retain the seat for his party, taking Labour’s total back up to 28 seats.

The Conservatives have chosen former Holy Cross student Jordan Lewis from Whitefield as their candidate.

He stood for the Tories in Besses in May but was defeated by incumbent Andrea Simpson.

The Liberal Democrats have selected Outwood resident Kingsley Jones as their candidate.

This is the first time the 21-year-old has ever stood in a council election before.

Radcliffe First Independents have chosen Mike Smith. This is the second time the new hyper-local party have fielded a candidate in this ward.

UKIP have selected Anthony Clough who previously stood in Pilkington Park.

The Green Party will not be fielding a candidate.

The by-election takes place on August 29.
