THE new endoscopy unit in Bolton has been given approval by the national Joint Advisory Group (JAG).

Since opening last year, inspectors congratulated the service in its first review.

They said: “The bright and airy unit follows the requirements of the patient pathway. There are high standards and privacy and dignity in the care given, and the siting of facilities. Patients have been involved throughout the process and building.”

The unit now has four scoping rooms as part of the hospital and is located on the first floor where the former restaurant has been moved and refurbished. The development cost £2.3 million for the unit alone, with an additional £948,977 being spent on new medical equipment and staff funding.
