THE team at Amazon in Bolton have been given a big thank you for helping the company to achieve a new global sales record in celebration of their fifth annual Amazon Prime Day.

The company hosted several fun-filled days of activities last week to thank the Bolton team for the work they do delivering for customers, as Prime Day, one of their biggest annual sales events, proved a success on July 15.

The day brought entertainment to the Bolton site, along with doughnuts and t-shirts for the whole team to honour their consistent hard work.

Paul Ashraf, general manager at Amazon in Bolton said: “Prime Day has fast become one of the biggest dates in our calendar and what better way to celebrate than by getting involved in lots of fun and games.

“It’s been fantastic to bring our team together to say thank you to them for everything they do for our customers while celebrating Prime Day.”

The celebrations came after Prime Day surpassed Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined across the globe, with members purchasing more than 175 million items.

The site welcomed a record number of UK members during the 48-hour day against any other two-day period, marking it as the largest shopping event in Amazon history.

Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon, said: “This year we’re thrilled that members in the UK had access to more deals than ever before, helping make Prime Day 2019, the biggest global shopping event in Amazon history.”

In spirit of the Prime Day celebrations, the fulfilment centre team invited local business ‘Kate’s Skates’ to come into the site and see how their products are stowed, picked, packed and shipped to their customers globally.

The Barrow-based company, which sells skating clothing and footwear through Amazon, also met some of the staff at the Over Hulton site in Bolton, who have been instrumental in helping them expand their markets way beyond Barrow.

Chris Palmen, from Kate’s Skates, said: “The team at Amazon has been key in helping me grow my business and it’s been great to come along to the site to see how they work for businesses like mine.

“I wanted to say thank you for everything Amazon has done and continues to do for Kate’s Skates.”
