A WOMAN from Bolton is raising money and awareness for the Bolton Hospice after rekindling her love of art.

Ann McFadden, a day therapy patient at the hospice, created an abstract piece of art to help promote their Bubble Rush 5k fundraiser after visiting an arts and crafts class called ‘Create’.

She now plans to continue spreading the word about their fundraiser, encouraging people to sign up to support the work of the hospice, before raffling off her creation to the highest bidder.

“I have really enjoyed the physiotherapy and massages by the complementary therapists,” said Ann.

“Being able to take part in creative sessions at the hospice, my passion for art has been rekindled. I have always had a dream of having a go at creating a piece using paint, balloons and darts.”

After sharing her revived passion for art with Mary, the creative therapist at the Bolton Hospice, Ann was able to attend ‘Create’ classes, which set up a room especially for all things art.

“Bolton Hospice have been wonderful and I have really enjoyed attending as a day therapy and outpatient,” she said. “The staff are uplifting and amazing.”

Bolton Hospice is renowned for providing expert care and support to local people across the borough, with terminal or life-limiting illnesses. Through guiding their families, in and outside of the hospice, they hope to keep raising money to continue these efforts.

Fundraising events, such as their yearly ‘Bubble Rush’, help to raise the £4 million they need to continue providing their free care services.

The event, which is set to take place at Queens Park on September 8, will see families run, skid and jump through through colourful foam for the fourth year running, in hope of raising money for the independent charity.
