Love Island may have finished for the summer but visitors to Bolton Central Library will still have the chance to “couple up” with a good book.

A Book Speed Dating night will be held on Tuesday, August 13 from 5.30pm to 7pm with a variety of themed activities planned and each guest will take home a free book.

Take a whirlwind tour of the literary world as book lovers take it in turns to persuade you of the charms of their favourite read in just three minutes.

This event is part of the Greater Manchester Libraries Reading Friends project and aims to bring people together to share stories, have fun through reading, make friends and chat.

The evening will be held in the Central Library and Museum’s Art Gallery where light refreshments will be served.

There will also be a hint of drama as members of Bolton Little Theatre act out famous romantic scenes while the audience tries to name the work of literature.

Guests will have the chance to write a lonely heart advert for their favourite literary hero or heroine and win a prize.

Bolton Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Martyn Cox, said: “This is a unique event that I’m sure will be an enjoyable evening for both avid readers and those looking to rekindle their love of books.

“Libraries across the borough offer a wide range of fun and educational activities for visitors of all ages.

Places are free and can be booked online via Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/2YgMPl7.
