COMMUTERS were delayed at Blackburn train station had delays after a man was spotted walking on the tracks.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon at around 2pm when conductors saw the man hiding in the bushes.

Alex Adder, who was travelling from Blackburn to Manchester, said: "Our train was meant to be at 2.16pm but we did not set off until 2.35pm.

"He must have been on the tracks for about 10 minutes and the red lights were on so that no trains could come into or leave the station.

"There were quite a few people shouting at him to get off the tracks and there were quite a few people angry about it because we could not leave.

"The police arrived and they were told that they were not allowed to go on the tracks to get him off and then the British Transport Police arrived and they arrested him.

"It meant that everyone was delayed."

The Lancashire Telegraph tried to contact the British Transport Police and Police for a comment.
