AN UPDATE has been issued regarding an investigation into noise pollution and noxious fumes in Darcy Lever.
Last month, residents described being at their wits’ end due to the issues blighting the area. The complaints are being investigated and at the Darcy Lever Residents Association meeting, Cllr Sean Hornby provided an update on where the investigation is up to.
He said: “The last information that we had was about a week and half ago as there had been some problems with the noise aspect of it. Those investigated have taken readings and they’ve not come up high enough to make a prosecution so we’re continuing to work with that. There’s been other issues as well where residents have not been available to talk to, so it’s ongoing.”
At the meeting residents again complained of the burning and ‘banging’ coming from Lloyds Metal. Blackstone Driveways, which has also been accused of creating black smoke, previously blamed a barbecue. A spokesman said: “Please accept my apology about the smoke, as we had a little barbecue with my child causing the smoke and disturbing residents, I take this into account as a serious matter.”
