TWO men were caught in the act of stealing from the Darwen household waste disposal site.
Blackburn magistrates heard one of them jumped over the fence to try and escape but was arrested in the neighbouring compound.
The second was eventually found hiding in a container after a police dog was brought in to search the compound.
Mark Anthony Bolton, 49, of Pegamoid Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to being found in enclosed premises and theft of a debit card and a ring.
Barry Sykes, 51, of Thorpe Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to being found in enclosed premises and possession of amphetamine. They were both sentenced to 14 days in prison suspended for 12 months, made subject to a community order with 15 days rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.
