THE star of The Albert Halls’ Christmas panto has been revealed as Hollyoaks star Ray Quinn.

The Liverpudlian performer will take up the lead role in Aladdin at the theatre from November 30-December 31.

The festive show, which is being produced by Polka Dot Pantomimes, promises audiences “spectacular scenery, dazzling costumes, spellbinding special effects, and lots of audience participation that will keep the whole family entertained and amused” in what is being billed as “the biggest pantomime ever staged in Bolton”.

Quinn first found fame for his role as Anthony Murray in the Channel 4 soap Brookside between 2000 and 2003.

However, he is perhaps best known for finishing as runner-up to Leona Lewis on the 2006 series of the X Factor.

Following his involvement in the show, Quinn signed to Simon Cowell’s SYCO label and released a swing album, which made it to number one in the charts.

However, after being dropped from his record label he took part in, and won, the fourth series of Dancing Ice.

Quinn’s stage career has previously seen him star as Danny Zuko in a West End production of Grease, and he has also had roles in Dirty Dancing, Legally Blonde and The Wedding Singer.

Last year, he joined the cast of Hollyoaks, taking up the role of Jonny Baxter, a member of a far-right group.

However, filming commitments will stop him from appearing in performances of Aladdin on December 10 and December 15, and may also prevent him starring on a number of other dates.

Organisers say an announcement on Quinn’s involvement in shows on December 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13 will be made “as soon as possible”.

More cast members for the pantomime are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.

Tickets are already on sale for morning, matinee and evening performances, and start at £16.
