A BOLTON band are set to go head to head with some of the UK's best up and coming artists in a high stakes battle of the bands.

Our Fold will battle it out with bands from across the country for their chance to play alongside Scottish megastars Biffy Clyro and scoop a £1,000 cash prize.

The Westhoughton alt-rockers have been whittled down from hundreds of artists to reach the finals of the Sound of Summer competition.

Having triumphed in the heats the outfit will be competing in one of six regional finals in Nottingham tomorrow night.

The winners will then go on to face off against the five other regional champions by sending a track to a panel of expert judges in a grand final.

Whoever takes the ultimate crown will bag themselves the cash and head out on a three-date tour — culminating in a support slot for Biffy Clyro at this year's Jack Daniel's Presents event in Birmingham.

Damien Riley, lead vocalist and founding member of Our Fold, said: “It was an amazing feeling to get through to the semi finals where we could win £1,000 and end up supporting Biffy Clyro.

"We were up against some amazing bands, such as The Sheafs, however things are going to be even tougher tomorrow.

"We’re massive fans of Biffy, so to share the same stage would be daft."

The contest comes in the wake of Our Fold's debut album — Sick of Normal Life — which dropped in May, and features and was produced by James's Saul Davies.

And 2019 has already proven a big year for the lads who played a packed out tent of more than 1,100 people at Kendal Calling Festival last month, and rocked a sold out album launch gig at the Albert Halls.

Sound of Summer has been set up by Irish pub chain O'Neill's.

James Ireson, marketing manager at O’Neill’s, said: “We were overwhelmed by the number of entries we had for Sound of Summer this year and this is definitely set to be our biggest one yet.

“The standard of this year’s entrants is higher than ever before we’re so excited to be giving upcoming artists the incredible opportunity to perform alongside Biffy Clyro.”
