COMFORT Adeoje-Sulaiman is flying high after completing two years' work in one year after moving from Spain to the UK.

The 16-year-old started Turton School in the final year of GCSEs and achieved top grades — two 8s, three 7s, one 9, one 6 and an A.

"I am really pleased, because I moved here a year ago and the curriculum and the syllabus is very different here.

"I worked very hard and very grateful to the teachers who were very supportive and saw the potential in me.

"I focused a lot and worked very hard."

She is now staying on at Turton School to study English Literature, Spanish, history, government and politics with a view to reading law and Spanish at university.

Grace Lavin also faced extra challenges while doing her GCSEs as she underwent an operation and regular check-ups for an eye condition, meaning she had to miss classes.

But determination and hard work paid off when she achieved two 9s, five 8s, two 7s and a 6 in her GCSEs. She said she was delighted with the results, which means she can go on to study A-levels at Turton School's sixth form.

"I am really pleased, I had an operation and had to have a couple of weeks off and then every other Friday.

"After A-levels I would like to do English literature at university."

Now, Grace is looking forward to the rest of the summer break without results day being at the back of her mind — and celebrating with a meal with friends.
