THE AMBULANCE service has announced a new appointment to its board of directors.

On Thursday, National NHS bodies confirmed that Professor Alison Chambers would take up the role of non-executive director of North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS).

Currently Pro Vice Chancellor for Health and Social Care at Manchester Metropolitan University, Prof Chambers qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1985 and worked in clinical practice for 10 years specialising in neurological rehabilitation and older person care. She has over 20 years’ experience of working in higher education.

NWAS chair, Peter White said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Alison to the trust and am confident that she will be a really positive addition to our board. Alison’s vast knowledge and expertise in the healthcare sector along with her passion for education will make a really valuable contribution to the organisation.”

Prof Chambers has been appointed from August 1 2019 until 31 July 2021 and is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,157 per annum.
