GROUND surveys on two key roads are set to cause significant disruption to drivers for more than a week.

Bolton Council’s Highways Department is planning studies on Bury Road and Crompton Way beginning on Tuesday, August 27.

The first part of the project, on the main link between Bolton and Bury, will mean engineers have to close one lane on a stretch of road from Osmund Avenue to Girton Street.

This will cross the junction with Crompton Way where a second lane closure will stretch up to Brookside Road.

The closures are expected to last until Thursday, September 5, when the surveys will be completed.

The council forecasts that the two lane closures are set to cause a “high level” of traffic disruption throughout the duration of the scheme.

A second project of works is also planned on Bury Road during this period as engineers from United Utilities repair a manhole close to the junction with Somerton Road. This will only take one day but is expected to cause similar delays.
