FOOD lovers can "chew chew" all the way to Bolton Train Station where the festival has been given another platform

And visitors to the festival will get a warm welcome when they arrive at Bolton station on Saturday.

The station partnership has organized a ‘fringe’ food and drink festival with over 20 community groups and small businesses having stalls which showcase their activities and offer some small nibbles.

The event will run from 10.30am to 4pm and is supported by Northern, Transport for Greater Manchester and Network Rail.

The fringe event will also see the first public display of Bolton Model Railway Club’s layout. The club meets at the station’s Community Room and members have been building the layout for the last few months.

“We want as many people as possible to visit the food and drink festival by train,” said partnership vice-chair Paul Salveson. “Our fringe event will take place along Platforms 4 and 5, where most trains coming in from Manchester arrive. It’s an easy, affordable and fun way to get to Bolton without the hassle of car parking.”

As well as the stalls, well-known singer and songwriter Howard Broadbent and other musicians will be entertaining visitors.

The new exhibition in The Platform Gallery, highlighting Bolton’s flourishing amateur dramatic scene, will be open.

Bolton Documentary Photography Group has put the show together, hosted by the new hallery on Platform 5.
