BURY FC are preparing as if they will host Doncaster Rovers next Saturday and the Shakers need your help.

The EFL have extended the deadline for C&N Sporting Risk to complete their takeover until 5pm on Tuesday.

Should the deal not be done, and the prospective new owners have warned there are real challenges, then the Shakers will be thrown out of the Football League and face possible liquidation.

But the club are planning for a positive outcome and need help getting Gigg Lane in a fit state to host the game.

Volunteers are being asked to be at the stadium from 9am on Tuesday morning to help clean seats, sweep the stands and undertake a variety of jobs.

That will just be the start with a busy week ahead should the takeover get the green light.

“Whilst the EFL and our potential new owners proceed with their necessary paperwork and dealings, the club needs to prepare the stadium in order for Saturday’s EFL Sky Bet League One clash with Doncaster Rovers to take place,” the club said.

“With Tuesday’s deadline firmly set, preparations for our first game of the season will commence at 9am on Tuesday morning.

“Recent events, over the summer months, have left the club with just a skeleton staff and we must, therefore, call on voluntary help in order to get the stadium ready.

“The club is appealing for volunteers to report to Gigg Lane from 9am on Tuesday morning to commence work on cleaning the stadium.  All 11,640 seats need a clean and all four stands need sweeping out.

“Can you help? If so, please report to the ground – armed with buckets and any cleaning materials if possible.

“Tuesday’s task is to clean all the seats so the more people that help, the quicker this will get done before we can move on to other areas of the Stadium.

“The club is moving into matchday preparation mode, despite the Tuesday deadline, and your help is very much needed and appreciated.”
