PROMOTERS of an awards scheme are offering free energy for a year as their top prize.

Bolton-based Love Energy Savings is behind the Best of Britain Awards, now in their sixth year.

Some of the leading lights of the energy industry, such as EDF, Total Gas & Power, Octopus Energy and Avanti Gas are sponsoring the regional rounds.

Firms which are seen to make a difference to the workplace or the environment - and their customers - will be in line for honours.

Phil Foster, chief executive at Love Energy, said: “Through talking to our customers we know there are some fantastic businesses across the UK that are outshining their rivals at the same time as undertaking some highly philanthropic feats.

“This can be innovation in their industry that will make a difference for years to come, looking at how changing their business practices can have a positive effect on the environment, or charitable work that helps local communities.

“We want to really shout about their achievements and the Best of Britain Business Awards 2019 will showcase the amazing things they’re doing.”

Five regional winners will be selected to attend a round table gathering in November, at the company’s Summerfield Road headquarters, before the grand prize winner, decided via a Facebook vote, is announced.

Mr Foster added: “ The list of successful entrants over the five years since we launched the awards is diverse.

“It includes caravan parks, hairdressers, funeral directors and a charity restoring a derelict rural Victorian estate. We have also had an innovative chocolatier and a firm that set up a nanny sharing scheme.

“What you do doesn’t matter, if you’ve made a real impact and have plenty of passion then we want to hear from you.”

Applications are being accepted until October 4, with the regional winners then announced on October 11. For more information and to enter visit https://bestofbritain.loveenergysavings.com/
