ENGINEERS will cause disruption on a major road as they work on water mains.

Staff from United Utilities will have to access the pipes below Chorley New Road opposite Horwich Fire Station, meaning part of the roadway will be closed.

This work is set to take place from today until Monday, September 16.

As a result, there will be temporary traffic lights in place to filter traffic through the area.

Bolton Council's Highways Department has warned residents to expect a 'High Level' of disruption.

Fortunately, the traffic lights will only be used during off-peak hours so the work is unlikely to cause delays for commuters.
