Oldham Athletic have allowed winger Gevaro Nepomuceno to join National League side Chesterfield on loan until January.

The move sees the Curacao international link up with former Latics boss John Sheridan, his manager when he arrived at Boundary Park back in September 2017.

The 26-year-old has made 70 appearances for the club since then, scoring seven goals.

One of those came this season, Nepomuceno scoring the opening goal in the agonising Carabao Cup exit at Blackburn Rovers.

He had signed a new one-year contract in May on the back of a 2018-19 campaign that saw him contribute six goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances before heading off to represent his country at the Gold Cup.

Nepomuceno, who says he spoke to former Latics Dan Gardner and Chris O’Grady before making the move, has however not featured for Laurent Banide’s side since the win at Cambridge on August 24.

"It's a big club and the facilities and the stadium are amazing,” he told Chesterfield’s website.

"They told me that Chesterfield is a great club with amazing people.

"I had good communication and a good feeling with the manager at Oldham so it was an easy decision for me. He gives me confidence and helps me to be a better player."
