THE new bosses of one of Bolton's oldest engineering firms say they are happy with their takeover's outcome.

Ninety jobs were saved earlier this year when Metalcraft, part of Avingtrans, acquired blast door maker Booth Industries.

Booth started out as blacksmiths, in 1873, but its parent group Redhall was facing administration.

Their assets, including their Nelson Street plant, were bought up for £1.8m, under the Metalcraft banner.

In a year-end report for Avingtrans, chairman Roger McDowell said the deal had allowed the group to expand in the critical national infrastructure market.

He told investors the move would "deepen their relationship" with key customers.
