A BOLTON celebrity has been recruited to this year's star studded edition of The X Factor.

TV quizzer Jenny Ryan will be stepping onto The X Factor stage this year as the much-loved talent show gets a shake up.

The show will be returning for an incredible 16th season, but this time 15 famous competitors will battle it out to be crowned a singing champion.

In a new teaser trailer, the line up has been revealed and includes star of The Chase and Horwich local Jenny Ryan.

Known as The Vixen on ITV quiz show The Chase, Ms Ryan has become a regular fixture on the small screen.

Along with showing off her wealth of knowledge answering even the trickiest of questions, she also proved her culinary skills in the Celebrity Masterchef kitchen earlier this month and won over judge John Torode who said "Jenny has got the makings of a very good chef".

But the mastermind has her doubts about the singing competition, stepping out of her comfort zone and onto the world's stage.

In the trailer she is seen walking through a library picking out books, saying: "Am I good enough?

"This is the ultimate test."

Creator Simon Cowell revealed the big changes to the hit show, saying "it's time for something different," while long time judge Louis Walsh warned "it could be carnage" to introduce celebrities not known for their singing abilities.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger will also be returning to the panel and fan favourite Dermot O'Leary will be back as the host of the long-running competition.

A slew of other stars were announced for The X Factor: Celebrity contest, due to start in October.

The Bolton brainiac will be joined by other surprising guests, including footballing legend Vinnie Jones, US talk show host Rikki Lake, journalist and Princess Diana interviewer Martin Bashir.

From the cobbles of Manchester, Coronation Street star Victoria Ekanoye - who portrayed Angie Appleton in the soap - will also be taking up the microphone next month, but she says she's looking forward to the new adventure.

Ms Ekanoye said: "Singing will always be my first love."

Sportsmen Thom Evans, Ben Foden and Levi Davis are joining forces, hoping to impress the judges with a three-piece band.
