A CAR was left burnt out after being set of fire in a residential street in a suspected early morning arson attack.

Fire crews and police were called to Bromwich Street in The Haulgh at around 4am this morning to a Peugeot 308 SW which was on fire.

Damage was caused to "the whole vehicle", however fire crews say they are unsure where the fire was set.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added that the fire was "probable but not definite deliberate ignition".

No one was injured in the incident and it is as yet unknown who the car's owner is.

Fire crews were on the scene for around half an hour.
