AN AIR of uncertainty has developed around the future of a children’s play area after it closed suddenly.

Amazonia and Lost Valley Golf, part of the Vaults at Market Place Shopping Centre, has been closed for the past two weeks.

On Sunday, September 15, the play area posted on its Facebook page that it would be closed for the day.

A sign has also been put up on a board, which reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be closed today. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Since the Facebook post and the sign went up, the play area has remained closed.

A number of customers have speculated about the fate of Amazonia and Lost Valley Golf on its Facebook page.

Last Friday, Amy Duerden wrote: “I’ve bought a Groupon voucher and booked this day and it’s been cancelled what happens next?

“Someone on this page said they’ve just gone with no warning such a shame as it looked so much fun.

“Hope we get our refund sharpish though without too much hassle.”

Paul Stevens commented: “We went on Sunday September 22, gutted it was closed.

“Hope it’s not permanent and hope the staff are okay,”

Commenting on the original post, yesterday, Phillipa Rotherham-Howell wrote: “I went on Tuesday and it was closed, was hoping to go today but after reading this post I probably won’t bother trying.”

The Amazonia complex opened along with the The Vaults in 2016 and comprised of a soft play area aimed at two to four-year-olds, 18-hole mini golf and a miniature railway.

Since the Vaults opened, a number of units have closed down including Gourmet Burger Kitchen, The Bank, Baltic Cellar, Bolton’s Bangers and The Dessert Cafe.

Management at Market Place claimed that they could not confirm the fate of Amazonia and Lost Valley Golf due to legal reasons. Shopping centre manager, Nikki Wilson-Cook said: “For legal reasons, I can’t comment at the moment.”
