A TEENAGER who assaulted a taxi driver and smashed the vehicle’s internal glass screen has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Manchester Youth Court. The 17-year-old youth from Whitefield was also ordered to pay a total of £550 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £160 after he admitted using racially aggravated threatening behaviour in Bury on June 21. Phillip McNally, aged 34, of Chadderton Drive, Bury, was also ordered to pay £430 in costs and charges after he appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

A MAN who was caught driving a BMW without a licence, insurance or MoT certificate has been fined by Manchester magistrates. Thomas Doherty, aged 34, of Regent Street, Bury, admitted committing the offences whilst driving the vehicle on Peel Way, Bury on May 13. He was fined £660 and was ordered to pay £151 in costs and charges. Six penalty points were added to his driving record.

A WOMAN who attacked a police officer has been electronically tagged. Sarah Gaffney, aged 40, of Hawthorn Avenue, Radcliffe had initially denied assaulting the officer on May 4, but changed her plea when she appeared before Manchester magistrates.Gaffney was sentenced to an 8pm to 8am curfew for 10 weeks. She was also ordered to pay £355 in costs and charges plus £100 in compensation to the officer.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £440 after he dropped litter near his home. The case against Connor Molyneux, aged 23, of Warwick Street, Prestwich was proved in his absence after he failed to turn up for his hearing at Manchester Magistrates' Court. Molyneux was also ordered to pay £294 in costs and charges.

A MAN who illegally used a disabled person's blue parking badge has been fined £220 by Manchester magistrates. The case against Wayne Wood, of Sheringham Drive, Bury, was proved in his absence. In addition to the fine he was ordered to pay £280 in costs and charges.

A BURGLAR who stole tobacco and Alcohol from Dumers Mini Market, Radcliffe, on November 19 last year has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. At Manchester Magistrates' Court Mark Turner, aged 51, of Spencer Street, Bury, pleaded guilty and also admitted damaging Six Town Housing property in Tottington on September 3 and begging in Corporation Street, Manchester on September 21. Turner was ordered to have treatment for drug addiction for 12 months and participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. He must also pay a total of £400 in compensation plus £200 in costs and charges.

A 16-YEAR-OLD Bury boy who assaulted a person on May 18 has been referred to a youth offender panel for 12 months. At Manchester Youth Court the boy admitted causing actual bodily harm and was ordered to pay his victim £100 in compensation plus £105 in costs and charges.
