THE government has been told to ensure Thomas Cook staff receive their unpaid wages.

The call came from Bolton North-East Labour MP Sir David Crausby after meeting workers from the collapsed travel firm who lobbied Westminster on Wednesday.

It is believed more than 3,000 Thomas Cook staff in Greater Manchester lost their jobs..

There were Thomas Cook shops in Bolton town centre, in Manchester Road, at Middlebrook Retail Park and in Farnworth.

Sir David said yesterday: “If you go to work you should be paid for it, it’s that simple. Thousands of families have been left struggling to make ends meet because they haven’t been paid the wages they are owed, while the directors of Thomas Cook walked away with millions. It’s not right and the Government need to step up and ensure these workers get what they are owed.”

On Thursday a jobs fair for former Thomas Cook staff was held at Manchester Airport.
