POLICE have released pictures of a man they want to speak to about a wheelie bin fire in Kearsley.

At around 2.15am on July 6, a man approached four wheelie bins outside flats in Oakes Street, before setting one alight.

The fire caused extensive damage to the front of the communal entrance to the building.

Police have released a video which shows a man walking up to the bins, kneeling down and appearing to set one on fire, before walking off.

No one was injured.

Sergeant Christopher Whalley of GMP’s Bolton District said: “Since this crime occurred we have been following various lines of enquiry to trace the perpetrator.

“Now we turn to the general public for their assistance. Do you recognize the person in this footage?

“This was a senseless arson attack which could easily have resulted in significant injury.

“If you’re able to assist our enquiries, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything around the time of the fire or can identify the offender.
