AN aspiring make-up artist from Bolton is in the running to be crowned the UK's best makeup artist.

Callum Stamp, 17, has already wowed judges in the regional heats of the World Skills UK finals.

Now, he will face stiff competition from creative talents up and down the country for a chance to scoop the top spot.

Callum said: "The competition has really allowed me to push myself creatively, and it’s a great stepping stone for the future."

The Bolton College student has praised the support of his tutor, Ella Arscott, who has travelled with him to competitions.

He added: “I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from Ella, and I’m really looking forward to the finals, I can’t wait to take part.”

Ella will accompany Callum and his model to the Birmingham NEC for the finals in November, where the theme is ‘Going Viral’.

Bolton College is very supportive of students entering competitions, allowing tutors and students to travel up and down the country to take part.

This isn’t the first time that Callum has wowed judges, coming second the Association of Hairdressers & Therapists’ annual competition.

Callum and his partner, Annalise Heald, secured the podium spot in the bridal category at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.

Ella said: ”Callum has done extremely well, we are so proud of his achievements to date. His work is amazing, he has true talent and a great passion for his craft in make-up artistry.”

Callum is now studying ‘Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair & Media Make-up Diploma Level 3’, and hopes to work on fashion shows and make-up magazines across the world.

He was studying ‘Make-up Artistry Technical Certificate Level 2’ at the time of his regional win.

Callum will attend a pre-competition bootcamp in Loughborough later this month to help him prepare for the finals. Visit @calmac_m.u.a on Instagram to see more of Callum’s work.
