BOLTON councillors were pictured getting in the queue to spend a penny when a new hi-tech superloo was unveiled in the town centre.
It would actually cost 10p to use the new toilet which had a host of new facilities including automatic power cleaning and drying after each use and automatic flushing and hand washing.
A special sensor prevented more than one adult from using it at one time as the doors would not close if there was too much weight on the floor,
Funding had been agreed to purchase the superloo as there was a shortage of public toilets in the town centre but a permanent site had not yet been agreed on.
The councillors were given a special demonstration of what they could expect in 1988 when the superloo was temporarily sited next to the town hall.
