A WELL respected and “greatly loved” former councillor was honoured for her services to Bolton.
Carole Swarbrick, who served as Mayor, was made an honorary alderman at this week’s meeting of the full council.
She said: “It is a real honour to accept this, firstly I would like to thank the officers of the council, from the chief executives to all the other officers.
“I would also like to thank the elected members for your help, your support, your guidance and above all your friendship over many years for which I have been and still am very grateful. I shall treasure this.”
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr David Greenhalgh said: “Carole has been a well-respected councillor for many years.
“Whenever Carole got up and spoke in this chamber everybody listened because she would speak a great deal of sense. She has of course been greatly loved for many years.
It gives me greatest of pleasures to confirm on a very dear friend to confer the title of honorary alderman”.
