A LIFELINE for deaf people has been given a major cash boost.
Bolton Deaf Society were given £635 by 34-year-old Emma Unsworth, the manager of Hays Travel in Horwich.
Emma and her team have been fundraising all year, even running a Northern Soul night for the charity.
Hays Travel North West, the store’s parent company, challenges each store to raise at least £500 for a chosen charity.
The Horwich store chose the Deaf Society after hearing about their work from a regular customer.
Emma visited the charity centre on Bark Street to see how the group supports their members.
She said: “My visit has confirmed to me what a brilliant cause this is for us to support and what an incredibly important part of people’s lives it has become for those it helps.”
The society needs around £30,000 a year to keep running services for their 131 members.
