PLANS to convert a barn at a protected farm into two houses have been given the green light after they fell through twice.
The development at Umberton's Farm in Over Hulton was refused permission last year when town hall planners ruled that it would have an inappropriate impact on green belt and the character of the area.
There was also insufficient information provided relating to land contamination, noise and coal mining.
Council officers said that these matters have now been addressed.
The proposal at the Salford Road site was originally revealed in 2017 but the application was later withdrawn.
The plans were considered to involve too much of the barn being rebuilt.
Construction of a detached garage was also proposed.
At the time, a statement submitted to the council, explained why the Heaton family wanted to build the new houses.
It said: "The applicants have been winding down their farming activities over the last couple of years and have decided, like many rural property owners with traditional barns, to apply for planning permission to convert the traditional brick barn situated within the farmyard to a residential use through conversion of the existing barn."
