A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after he and his friend were "jumped and badly beaten" in Radcliffe.

A boy, believed to be aged 16, was taken to Fairfield General Hospital after the incident on Saturday night.

The two teenagers were walking along Banana Walk, known locally as the 'banana path', when they were set upon by "a group of lads in balaclavas", according to a family member who shared about the incident on the Spotted: Radcliffe Facebook page.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called to Banana Path, off Spring Lane, shortly after 7pm on Saturday.

"We took a patient to hospital. He suffered facial injuries."

A road ambulance and a second NWAS vehicle attended.
