BOLTON Family, a group of local businesses and organisations, hosted its first sponsored 10k walk last month to raise funds and awareness for dementia care at Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Hilary Fairclough, officially started the walk, which began at Seddon on Plodder Lane. Participants then took a route via Bolton Hospital and Bolton Town Hall before finishing at Asda in Astley Bridge.

Ged Gallagher, head of service policy performance, at Bolton Council, said: “The dementia walk was a great experience. Despite the weather, lots of people joined together to benefit a great cause.

“The funds raised will support dementia care and help people to age well in Bolton. Well done to all who took part.”

Jonathan Seddon, CEO at Seddon said: “Dementia care in the Bolton community is such an important cause, and we are delighted to have played a part in supporting this event.”

So far, the event has raised over £1,200 and any contribution to help reach the £2,000 target are being welcomed by the group. Donations can be made at justgiving.com/B-family.
