Devastated neighbours have left flowers and messages for a baby girl who died in Farnworth yesterday.

An ambulance was called to Crompton Street shortly after 5.30pm on Friday November 1 to reports of an unresponsive 10-month-old girl.

Paramedics swiftly attended and the girl was taken to hospital, however she sadly died a short time after arrival.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Residents of the street say that there were two women and a man living in the house with the baby girl.

They are said to have moved in roughly five months ago and "kept themselves to themselves".

Some neighbours have given statements to the police to assist with the investigation, which is in its very early stages.
