AN award-nominated Bolton boss has outlined his commitment to his hometown - and developing a digital collective borough-wide.

As revealed last month, Tao Digital, of St George’s House, has been nominated as ‘digital start-up of the year’ in the UK Digital Entrepreneur Awards.

Since their launch two years ago, founder Matt Tomkin and his team have worked hard to carve out a niche with their search engine marketing content marketing and digital PR offerings.

But for Matt the impact Tao can have away from the business world is equally as important.

He’s a trustee of the Bolton-based national respite charity Lagan’s Foundation and the company also donated a bespoke website for Bolton Pride in September.

Matt has also been behind ‘Bolton Digital and Creative Collective’ meetings, where creatives can exchange ideas and support one another.

He said: “It’s a way of making sure we do as much as we can to keep business local and use the vast amount of freelance talent and business talent we have locally. I am Bolton through and through and this is one way of keeping the ‘Bolton pound’ in Bolton and support local businesses as much as possible”

Looking ahead, he is looking to fashion a boutique agency, ready to meet all challenges.

He added: “We will continue to work closely with brands and businesses we believe in and also help them to grow their businesses.

“Alongside this I would like to create a number of ‘test projects’ which will help the team to test the boundaries of what is possible online.

“This might include us moving into other areas of digital marketing, such as social media management, but we will only do that when we have managed to grow our own knowledge in-house significantly.”

Tao and fellow Bolton firm Bring Digital, nominated in the Digital Agency of the Year category at the entrepreneur awards, will find out if they have been successful on November 21.
