IN the year Anne Frank would have been 90-years-old, a new international exhibition charting her life against the backdrop of the rise of the Nazis and the Holocaust opens at Bolton Museum on Saturday.

Anne Frank: A History for Today will be in Bolton for two weeks.

The international exhibition has travelled all over the world, and is presented more than 300 times per year.

It is coordinated by Amsterdam based Anne Frank House.

As well as the exhibition, organisers the Anne Frank Trust UK will be putting on tours for community groups and schools.

A number of primary schools have already planned to visit the exhibition. For the exhibition is said to provide a strong starting pointing for “teaching young people about the roots and consequences of prejudice and discrimination.

Workshops will also be taking place in which young people can discuss the issues which resonate with them today.

The exhibition is running throughout Inter Faith week and a number of interfaith forums from Bolton are attending a special event on November14 which local councillors and MPs are also invited to.

Young people from Westhoughton High School and St Joseph’s RC High School will lead some of the workshops.

The young people have worked with the trust to with Year Nine pupils trained to become Anne Frank Ambassadors.

Part of the ambassador scheme is empowering them to deliver tours and run sessions for others.

The exhibition is open during Bolton Central Library’s opening hours ,
