Stagecoach Manchester will commemorate Remembrance Sunday by offering free travel to all armed forces personnel and veterans across Manchester.

All armed forces members with a valid military ID card and veterans wearing a veteran's badge will receive free travel throughout the first two weeks of November.

The company is waiving transport costs to thank past and present members of the military for their service.

All buses will also carry commemorative poppies to honour those who serve their country.

Stagecoach Manchester Managing Director Elisabeth Tasker said: “It’s lovely to see our decorated buses around Manchester, honouring our armed forces, and as ever we’re proud to be able to support the Royal British Legion in their poppy appeal.

“This is a cause that is close to the heart of many of our employees, as well as our customers, and something we will continue to support.”

Stagecoach Group signed the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in March 2015, a voluntary agreement that recognises the contributions that military personnel, reservists, veterans and their families bring to the UK and the value they bring to businesses.

The company is a silver award holder in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and has been recognised for its support for past and present members of the military.
