THERE will be no trains running between Bolton and Wigan today, rail firm Northern has announced.
It comes as part of periodic cancellations each Sunday which have become a constant issue since the company took over operations.
Buses will replace trains from Wigan to Bolton (via Westhoughton) throughout the day.
In addition, replacement buses will run between Bolton and Preston and passengers are advised not to plan on using the Manchester Victoria to Blackpool North service as this will be severely reduced.
There will also be rail replacement between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge.
In a statement on its website, Northern said: "We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our customers. Please check immediately before you travel.
"All the planned cancellations will be fully updated on the Northern website or National Rail Enquiries websites and apps overnight, so customers should check on Saturday morning for the latest information."
