A FORMER soldier who was badly injured in Afghanistan has been selected as the Conservative candidate for Bolton South East.
Johno Lee, from Farnworth, is set to fight for the seat in the December election and overturn a Labour majority of 13,126.
He said: "My first priority is to help Boris Johnson get a workable majority so we can get Brexit done and so we can concentrate on our NHS - getting better mental health services and fairer funding for our schools.
"I'm fighting for better infrastructure and for our front line services as well as for more police on our streets and better support for our Servicemen and veterans."
Mr Lee lost a leg when his patrol drove over an Improvised Explosive Device in 2007.
Since then, he has taken part in a round-the-world yacht race and climbed Kilimanjaro.
He currently serves as a councillor for the Balderton North and Coddington Ward in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire.
