A PRIEST who does a great take on Barry Manilow has been welcomed at St Mary and St Philip Neri RC Church in Radcliffe.
The congregation applauded Father Philip Brady who performed Copacabana at a special musical celebration, dubbed Radcliffe’s Got Talent, to mark his arrival.
The packed audience was thrilled with the performance.
The congregation said a fond farewell to their priest of 23 years, Father James Manock who has moved on to pastures new to take up his new appointment as parish priest at St Vincent de Paul, in Norden, Rochdale.
Father Philip was previously of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St John Bosco, Blackley.
Radcliffe resident Mildren D’Amore, aged 73, who has attended St Mary’s since 1968, said: “We were sorry to see Father James go but we are very pleased to have Father Brady join us.
“His performance was very well received.
"The event was held to welcome him, and provided an opportunity for church members to get to know Father Brady, and vice versa. It was a very happy occasion.”
Several other parishioners showcased their talent at the event on October 18, and the audience enjoyed a performance by Radcliffe Brass Band.
