A SPECIAL Christmas service is being held to allow those who have lost loved ones to make a dedication in their memory.
The annual Light up a Life service, hosted by East Lancashire Hospice, will be held in Blackburn Cathedral, and hundreds are expected to gather to remember family and friends.
This year, people can dedicate a star in an online Night Sky, which is featured on the hospice website and those who make a dedication are then invited to attend the service.
Lianna Champ, from Champ Funeral Service, who are sponsoring the Light up a Life event, said: “Memory is how we hold on to the things we love.
“Light up a Life is an important step in remembering our loved ones and it is a privilege once again to be able to sponsor such a special event. During the service, the ritual of lighting a candle is a powerful one and by sharing our grief as a community we connect with one another, human to human.”
The service will be at Blackburn Cathedral on Monday December 9 at 7.30pm. The Christmas tree lights will be switched on by special guests. Dedications can be viewed on the East Lancashire Hospice website.
