COMMUTERS are experiencing delays on their routes into Bolton following two crashes this morning.

Highways England traffic officers were called to the scene of both incidents.

Two vehicles collided on the fourth lane of the M61 northbound between Junction 1 for Swinton Interchange and Junction 2 for the A666/St Peter's Way.

The incident was cleared at about 8am, with the lane now reopened.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called shortly before 6.30am. We sent one ambulance to the scene but we did not need to take anyone to hospital." An ambulance remained at the scene until about 8.15am.

There are also delays on the M60 between Junction 12 for the M62 and Junction 15 following an earlier crash at Junction 13 for the A575 for Worsley, involving a lorry and a car. The third and fourth lanes of the clockwise carriageway were originally blocked but have since been reopened.

Highways England tweeted shortly after 7.30am: "We have just recently cleared a couple of collisions on the M60 and the lead up to the M61.

"They are all on the hardshoulder now out of the way, however were blocking lanes earlier which will have added to the congestion."
