THIS is not just any Christmas advert — it is a Marks and Spencers commercial featuring comedian and television presenter Paddy McGuinness.

The Bolton comic stars alongside Emma Willis as they enjoyed a winter walk through a Marks and Spencer Christmas market, sampling some of the festive delights on various stalls the high street favourite is introducing this Christmas.

The Bolton News:

Paddy follows in the footsteps of his fellow Phoenix Nights co-star Peter Kay, who starred in the a Christmas campaign for the retailer in 2010.

During the tour of the snowy Christmas market, the pair try the turkey, wrapped in bacon with stuffing, a torched winter berry pavlova as mince pies. The festive market stalls are hosted by the M&S product developers behind its Christmas products

“This is M&S Christmas food,” says Paddy who adds: “You can tell it’s good because all the kids are quiet”

In total, the team has created over 170 new product lines for customers this Christmas.

The Bolton News:

The festive atmosphere is set by the award-winning choir from Ysgol Gynradd Llwyncelyn primary school in Wales, who shot to fame after winning Songs of Praise Choir of the Year in 2018.

The full 90 second version will also be accompanied by eight shorter 30-second adverts focused on one particular product, including the M&S Clementine Gin Liqueur Snow Globe.

Sharry Cramond, food marketing director at M&S, said: “Our product developers are the team behind the magic of our food – that’s why we’re making them and our delicious Christmas range the stars of this year’s ad.”
