The Little India Takeaway has seized the title of the best takeaway in the UK in the Curry Life Awards.
Held in Central London, the prestigious event was attended by more than 800 people with TV presenters Cathy Newman and Adam Shaw hosting.
The Bolton curry house was led to victory by father and son duo Abdul and Zuel Miah. The pair
have worked together for the past 14 years and say their longevity and consistently good food
are their key ingredients to success.
The awards took place in the Hilton Hotel and took both Abdul and Zuel by surprise.
“I was so shocked by how many people were there. The place was fascinating and exciting but I was so nervous, my son made the speech when we won,” Abdul admitted.
The newly crowned winners have always wanted their food to be the best quality for affordable
prices, saying: “ We want people to be happy and not even considering getting a takeaway
anywhere else.”
Following their victory, the owners say they are extremely grateful to all of the customers who voted for them and feel that they run a family business which keeps people coming back.
Looking to the future, the owners don’t have any plans to open more restaurants. Instead, want
to focus on their current business and make sure they maintain their high standards.
“You never know what the future holds, we want to take time with this one and make it the best
it can be.”
“I’ve been there for 14 years and I have seen the customers grow with me,” Abdul told The
Bolton News.
UK managing director of Just Eat, Andrew Kenny, said: “The Curry Life Awards is an incredibly
important event, recognising and celebrating the hard-working restaurants all across the country
dedicated to serving fantastic food to their customers each and every day.”
“A massive congratulations to all of the nominees and winners on your achievements — you truly
are the best of the best.”
The Curry Life Awards were held in partnership with Just Eat and were also supported
by Cobra Beer, Unisoft Solutions, Greater than Gin, Print Today and Travel Links
Worldwide.
