MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays after a crash near Chorley is causing delays on motorways across Lancashire this morning.

The crash involved two vehicles and happened on the southbound M61, between junctions 9 (Brindle) and 8 (Chorley) at around 4.30am.

It has been estimated that travel time is around 10 minutes.

One lane remains closed while the other two re-opened at 7.30am.

It is believed there is also a spillage which needs to be treated before the lanes can be re-opened.

The crash is having knock-on effects with congestion at the interchange with the M65 at junction 2 at Clayton Brook and M6 at Bamber Bridge.
