Jenny Ryan’s performance on the hit ITV show has won her a new legion of fans and they saw her turn on the festive lights in her hometown after Bolton pantomime star Ray Quinn stepped aside to allow her the honour.

And Jenny who found fame as Bolton’s quiz supremo in the quiz show in The Chase is returning in a new spin-off of the show.

Beat The Chasers will see all five brainiacs from the original ITV show team up for the first time.

Jenny, nicknamed ‘The Vixen’, will be part of the all-star team, along with fellow Bolton quizzer Anne Hegerty.

Jenny was brought up in Bolton and was a regular with the Albert quiz team in the Bolton Premier Quiz League.

Originally from Bottom o’ th’ Moor, Horwich, she first became interested in quizzing when her grandad, who used to run a Bolton quiz league, asked her questions as a child.

It was only when she appeared on University Challenge that she really became hooked. The new show will be hosted by Bradley Walsh in a prime-time slot.

He said: “The contestants are brave facing one Chaser, let alone all five. With that group of top quizzing brains working as a team, it’s going to take some beating.”

It will be the first time Mark “The Beast” Labbett, Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha, Anne “The Governess” Hegerty, Shaun “The Dark Destroyer” Wallace and Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan have worked together on screen.
