A FAMILY are holding a fundraising ball for their son who has a life-threatening illness.

Zachary Bland-Faina, eight, from Oswaldtwistle, has been dreaming of a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disneyland Paris since his family were told his life was limited.

Suffering from cerebral palsy and rare virus, cytomegalovirus, Zachary is deaf and partially-sighted.

His family, including mum Laura Bland, set up a fundraising page in 2017 to raise £10,000 including insurance costs and the holiday.

Miss Bland said: “Fingers crossed if we raise enough we can make his dream come true as he loves all the Disney characters.”

A charity ball will be held for Zachary on March 7 at 7pm, and will be hosted by David Lee at The Whitehall Hotel in Darwen.

The event will include a fizz reception, a three course set meal, entertainment, a celebrity guest and a fundraising auction. Mr Lee said: “I am so honoured and privileged to be able to work alongside some wonderful people to make their wish come true.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be easy to raise all the funds they need, but I am putting all my time and energy into helping this amazing family.”

Tickets for the event are £45 and are available to purchase by sending your name and telephone number to the-granary@hotmail.co.uk
