ONE of Bolton’s oldest residents has died.

Nora Winstanley, 105, passed away last Friday, November 15, at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Sue Whittam, her daughter, said: “It’s a shame that she didn’t reach her 106th birthday in December.

“The family want to express sincere thanks to all relatives and friends for their cards, kindness, and donations.

“The doctors and staff on H3 were wonderful, and a special thanks to Grange Lea Residential Home too.”

Mrs Winstanley moved into Grange Lea when she was 104, after falling ill with a chest infection.

She was born in Bolton on December 3, 1913, and went to Derby Street All Girls School.

After leaving school, she married her first husband, Frank Tatton, and the pair started a family on Church Road, having two girls, Sue and Kath, and a son, Gordon.

She later married William Winstanley after Frank’s death and moved to Blackrod, coming home to Bolton 15 years ago after she was widowed again.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 2, please contact Hardman & McManus funeral directors for more details.
