Bill Webster, Principal of Bolton College, added: “Callum is one to watch; he is immensely talented and we are so pleased that his skills have now been recognised nationally.

"Ella has really championed Callum and we are so pleased that we have been able to help him fulfil his potential. I have no doubt that in a few years, Callum will have achieved his ambition, and be working as a top make-up artist in New York.”

The finals saw 80,000 visitors watch more than 500 apprentices and students compete across 70 disciplines to be named the best in the UK.

Callum received the gold place in the Commercial Make-up category with a unique interpretation of the "Going Viral" theme.

The make-up master has over 1,000 followers on Instagram on the @calmac_m.u.a account, and is based at Chantelle Aesthetics in Walkden.

Ella, Callum's tutor, said: “Callum has worked extremely hard at his craft and it’s paid off. He competed against some amazing artists so to be named top in the country is an unbelievable achievement."
