THE town hall will oppose any housing proposed at Regent Park Golf Club where a developer wants to build 280 houses, the council leader has said.
This comes after Beck Developments asked authorities to release the green belt site, revealing that it has an agreement to promote parcels of the council-owned land for development.
Cllr David Greenhalgh confirmed that the council does not have any agreement with the developer or the golf course operator in relation to the land in Lostock.
The council held talks with Beck about a hotel at the site, but planners told the company that no housing would be allowed, according to the leader.
He said: “We have made it clear that this council will oppose any representations made to allocate any of the golf course site for housing."
