I really feel the need to respond to Julie Hilling's statement, in The Bolton News special report, "Where do candidates here stand on Brexit" 28/11/19.
In regards to migrant workers, she stated "Trade Unions can mitigate some of the issues."
She went on to say: "We need to make sure migrants aren't able to undercut people who are already here."
When she says undercut, I take it she is referring to wages, certainly Trade Unions can help the fight against exploitation of all workers. So did Julie Hilling mean to say what was printed in The Bolton News, or was she misquoted.
If she really meant to say those words, can I remind her migrants do not undercut people, unscrupulous employers do.
And I am shocked a Labour politician should say what she said.
